At the September 9, 2021 meeting Jim Sullivan brought in an azalea and showed the steps he goes through in pruning the plant, carefully explaining each step.
There will be no bonsai show this fall (2021) at the Senior Center.
Members at the annual Bowie Sennior Center Bonsai Show on October 14, 2015. The show was very well attended and over 35 plants were on display.
The Bonsai Club of the Bowie Senior Center was organized in 2010 by Dr. Akey Hung. Jim Sullivan is now its Advisor. The club meets the second Thursday of the month at the Bowie Senior Center at 9:30 am, except December, January and February. Membership is open to all Senior Center members. Membership at the Bowie Senior Center is free to all seniors over the age of 55.
New members are always welcome and no previous experince with bonsai is necessary. The club focuses on teaching bonsai horticulture, training techniques, as well as the artistic aspects of bonsai. Meetings consist of demonstrations, discussions, and "hands-on" work on members' bonsai.
