At the October 14, 2021 meeting Jim Sullivan explained the principles of wiring branches on a bonsai.

The Club will meet again on November 18 at which time there will be no formal presentation but each member is encouraged to bring in one or more plants for Jim to offer suggestions for possible improvement.


Members at the annual Bowie Sennior Center Bonsai Show on October 14, 2015. The show was very well attended and over 35 plants were on display.


The Bonsai Club of the Bowie Senior Center was organized in 2010 by Dr. Akey Hung. Jim Sullivan is now its Advisor. The club meets the second Thursday of the month at the Bowie Senior Center at 9:30 am, except December, January and February. Membership is open to all Senior Center members. Membership at the Bowie Senior Center is free to all seniors over the age of 55.

New members are always welcome and no previous experince with bonsai is necessary. The club focuses on teaching bonsai horticulture, training techniques, as well as the artistic aspects of bonsai. Meetings consist of demonstrations, discussions, and "hands-on" work on members' bonsai.
